Even though the Red Rock Central Falcons have not done well against the Springfield Tigers recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Red Rock Central came out on top against Springfield by a score of 66-59. The win made it back-to-back wins for Red Rock Central.
Red Rock Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaac Simonson out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 25 rebounds. Simonson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Lang, who scored 24 points along with seven assists.
Springfield's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Vogel, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Vogel pulled down eight or more rebounds. Isaac Fredin was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Even though they lost, Springfield were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Red Rock Central only racked up 22 assists.
Red Rock Central's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Springfield, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Rock Central will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Renville County West at 1:45 p.m. on Friday.
