Basketball Recap: Servite Piles Up the Points Against Western

A well-balanced attack led Servite over Western in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Friars blew the Pioneers out of the water with a 73-43 final score. The Friars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 25 points or more this season.

Servite's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Saiger Smith, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last seven games he's played. Tariq Johnson was another key player, putting up 14 points and three steals.

The win was the third in a row for Servite, bringing their record up to 10-2. As for Western, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Servite has already played their next game, a 64-63 loss against Newport Harbor on the 13th. As for Western, they will head out to square off against El Modena at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
