Softball Recap: Slaton Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

There's no place like home for Slaton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past the Idalou Wildcats 14-4 on Saturday. Considering the Tigers have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Allison Ortiz was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3. Zuri Martinez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Slaton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

Slaton pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Idalou, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Coming up, Slaton will head out to take on Muleshoe at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Muleshoe will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Slaton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Idalou, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Idalou Wildcats duke it out with Dimmitt Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. They are facing Dimmitt at the right time seeing as Dimmitt is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
