The St. Mary's Dragons entered their tilt with the Oakwood Academy Mustangs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. St. Mary's blew past Oakwood Academy 95-52 at home. Given St. Mary's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 17th in Missouri, while Oakwood Academy is ranked 226th in Alabama), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Oakwood Academy saw an underclassman step up: Jadon Williams dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of William Lee, who scored 17 points.
St. Mary's pushed their record up to 14-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.9 points per game. As for Oakwood Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will challenge Duchesne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakwood Academy on the road again on Monday and play against Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th. Columbia has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9.
