The Mascenic Regional Vikings will square off against the Newmarket Mules at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mascenic Regional comes in on three and Newmarket on five.
On Friday, Mascenic Regional got the win against Wilton-Lyndeborough by a conclusive 18-5. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won four contests by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Kiahna Farrey was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Payton Lafreniere was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Mascenic Regional was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Newmarket sidestepped Franklin for a 3-2 win. The three-run effort marked the Mules' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Emma Surina made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Surina was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those stolen bases were her first of the season.
Surina wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lily Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Newmarket's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Mascenic Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mascenic Regional has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Newmarket struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mascenic Regional skirted past Newmarket 2-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mules turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
