Baseball Recap: Purdue Polytechnic Has No Trouble Against Indianapolis Shortridge

Purdue Polytechnic won the last time they faced Indianapolis Shortridge and things went their way on Thursday too. The Techies blew past the Blue Devils 18-5. The Techies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 13 runs or more this season.

Kin Chow was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Chow was even better at the plate, getting on base in six of his eight plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Purdue Polytechnic: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, Purdue Polytechnic let Nevan Jeffers and Jonquil Muse run wild. Jeffers got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Muse went 3-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double. Jeffers is becoming a predictor of Purdue Polytechnic's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Jeffers, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Purdue Polytechnic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Purdue Polytechnic and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
