American Fork has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Skyridge Falcons at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. American Fork has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 187 points over their last five matches.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only American Fork walked away with it. They breezed by Bingham at home to the tune of 42-14. American Fork might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.
American Fork's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Story, who threw for 185 yards and three touchdowns. Story hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Andrus, who picked up 53 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Skyridge faced Pleasant Grove in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Skyridge walked away with a 37-30 victory over Pleasant Grove on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Skyridge.
Skyridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jack Burke out in front who picked up 99 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Carter Sheffield, who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Skyridge's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Deshawn Toilolo and Iakopo Malufau who racked up six sacks between them.
American Fork has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 11-1 record. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 11-2 Rigby and 10-2 Skyridge (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.3% over those games). As for Skyridge, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as both teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. American Fork commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 4.8 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Skyridge struggles in that department as they've been even better at 5.6 per game.
