After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Portage, the Chesterton Trojans were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They walked away with a 61-49 win over Hammond Central. For Chesterton, this counts as revenge for the 76-69 loss Hammond Central walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Hammond Central still got an impressive performance from Marcus Browder, who scored 25 points along with two steals. That was a full 51% of Hammond Central's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Da'shawn Woods, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Chesterton's win bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Hammond Central, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-10.
Chesterton will be playing in front of their home fans against Valparaiso at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hammond Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lake Central at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Lake Centralpresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hammond Central in Indiana (Lake Central is ranked 24th, while Hammond Central is ranked 183rd).
