Elk Grove had won six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 16-11 to make it seven. They never let the Sheldon Huskies get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. This was a revenge game for the Thundering Herd: when they faced off against the Huskies back in April, they had to take a 5-0 defeat.
Ryann Wolfe was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Izianah Castillo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
As for Sheldon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-9-1 record this season. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
On Sheldon's side, Micah Kennedy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. Kennedy has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sheldon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicole Camacho-Vasquez, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
