Softball Recap: Elkhart Wins Going Away Against Northridge

Elkhart not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26th (when they won 15-4). They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Northridge Raiders. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 win the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Laci Stimac made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Ambria Leedy and Bailey Harris-Rogers did most of the damage at the plate: Leedy went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Harris-Rogers went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most runs Leedy has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Fionna Topolski, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

With the victory, Elkhart broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-11. As for Northridge, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6.

Coincidentally, Elkhart and Northridge will both be playing Fort Wayne Northrop the next time they take the field. The Raiders will head out to face the Bruins at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Lions will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
