Football Recap: Addison 'AJ' Pressnall's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Arcadia over Burroughs

Arcadia scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 41-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Burroughs Bears. The Apaches haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Arcadia's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison 'AJ' Pressnall, who rushed for 57 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 265 yards and two TDs while completing 84.6% of his passes. The Apaches' leading receiver Aiden Reyes was 'AJ' Pressnall's top target yet again, picking up 163 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Burroughs was led to victory by Sho Fujita and Brandon Chapparo. Fujita rushed for 172 yards and three TDs, while Chapparo rushed for 175 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries. With that strong performance, Fujita is now averaging an impressive 107 rushing yards per game.

Arcadia's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Burroughs, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Arcadia is set to square off against their familiar foe Burbank at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 891 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Burroughs will face off against rival Glendale at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd.
