The Rye Thunderbolts will head out on the road to square off against the Colorado Springs Christian Lions at 5:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Rye has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Colorado Springs Christian will arrive with 13 straight wins.
Last Tuesday, Rye was beaten by Salida 52-24. Rye has not had much luck with Salida recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Rye saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Taci Ehrlich, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all.
In what's become a running theme this season, Colorado Springs Christian gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Manitou Springs, posting a 81-20 win on the road. Given Colorado Springs Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Manitou Springs is ranked 178th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rye bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.2 points per game. As for Colorado Springs Christian, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
Rye was dealt a bruising 86-6 loss at the hands of Colorado Springs Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Rye was down 46-4.
