The Boston Collegiate Hurricanes will head out to face off against the South Boston Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Boston Collegiate has three straight wins, South Boston has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Boston Collegiate earned a 7-2 victory over Salem Academy Charter.
Joe DiBlasi made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. DiBlasi was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ryan Alexander was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Calisi, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Boston Collegiate was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Salem Academy Charter only posted a batting average of .095.
Meanwhile, South Boston fell victim to Charlestown and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 18-0 to the Townies. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Knights haven't been shut out since back in April.
South Boston's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Boston Collegiate, their record now sits at 4-5.
Boston Collegiate took their win against South Boston in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Hurricanes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
