East New York Family Academy can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent matchup. They claimed a resounding 82-16 win over Madison at home. Given East New York Family Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Madison is ranked 409th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
East New York Family Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Arianna Mercado led the charge by scoring 23 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Mercado hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Eugene, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and six assists.
Midwood suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Sunday. They were dealt a 54-27 loss at the hands of Summit Academy. Midwood was down 38-18 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
East New York Family Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Midwood, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.
Everything came up roses for East New York Family Academy against Midwood when the teams last played back in February of 2022 as the team secured a 57-24 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for East New York Family Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
