Basketball Recap: Dexter Extends Winning Streak to Three

Dexter hadn't done well against Ruidoso recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Dexter Demons snuck past the Ruidoso Warriors with a 33-29 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Demons who have now won three matchups in a row.

Dexter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Melody Duran, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Duran has scored at least a third of Dexter's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karina Fuentes, who posted five points and four steals.

Dexter pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Ruidoso, they moved to 4-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Dexter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 34-32 victory against Cuba on the 28th. As for Ruidoso, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-41 win against To'hajiilee on the 28th.
