Volleyball Recap: Springs Valley Starts Season with Win on the Road

Springs Valley had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Wood Memorial Trojans with a sharp 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Blackhawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Springs Valley walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The final score came out to 25-20, 25-13, 25-17.

Springs Valley was led to victory by Maci Eckerty and Maddie Carnes. Eckerty had 11 digs and one assist, while Carnes hit 60% for ten kills and nine digs, three aces, and two blocks. Carnes has been hot for a while, having also posted 14 or more assists the last nine times she's played.

Wood Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springs Valley will head out to square off against Crawford County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wood Memorial, they will venture away from home to challenge Evansville Bosse at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
