Softball Recap: Delta's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Delta extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 6-10 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Wapahani Raiders. Considering the Eagles have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaitlynn Burns made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Addie Smith was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted over her last eight contests. Caidyn Freiburger was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs.

Delta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

As for Wapahani, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered against Delta since May 5, 2018.

On Wapahani's side, Briley Kahalekomo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two triples and three runs. Those triples marked the first that Kahalekomo has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Kendal Carpenter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Looking ahead, Delta will venture away from home to take on Greenfield-Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Wapahani, they have already played their next game, a 13-3 loss against Winchester Community on the 8th.
