The Maconaquah Braves will head out on the road to square off against the Whitko Wildcats at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Maconaquah posted their biggest victory since December 7, 2023 last Tuesday. Everything went their way against Pioneer as Maconaquah made off with a 58-36 win.
Maconaquah's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miranda Stoll, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bailey Carson, who scored 13 points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, Whitko waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past Fort Wayne Wayne with points to spare, taking the game 69-54.
Whitko's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Reese Stonebraker, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Stonebraker hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayma Stonebraker, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Maconaquah now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Whitko, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.
Maconaquah beat Whitko 43-36 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Maconaquah since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
