Mays took their contest at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 66-33 victory over Banneker. That looming 66-33 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Mays yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mays to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Riley , who scored 18 points along with nine assists and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Riley posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Zaniya Compton , who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Mays' win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Banneker, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mays will square off against Tri-Cities at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Banneker's road trip will continue as they head out to face Chapel Hill at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Chapel Hill is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
