The Ridgeway Roadrunners entered their tilt with the Kirby Cougars with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Ridgeway walked away with a 76-67 win over Kirby on Friday. Given Ridgeway's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Kirby is ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Emanuel Allen, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Thornton, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Ridgeway's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Kirby, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Ridgeway will head out on the road to challenge Melrose at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Melrose has insisted on making their lastfive contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 5-0 during that stretch of close contests. As for Kirby, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Memphis Business Academy at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Memphis Business Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
