Softball Game Preview: Glide Wildcats vs. Sutherlin Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Glide will face off against Sutherlin. The Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Glide has six straight wins, Sutherlin has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Glide is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Sutherlin get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Wildcats with their most commanding win of the season.

Emma Geiger was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Geiger, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Emma wasn't the only one making solid contact: Glide kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Glide's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sutherlin, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Sutherlin's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Glide has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game.
