A District 4 recap October 8, 2013
Rush Springs was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in A District 4. The Redskins defeated Bray-Doyle 46-6 earlier in the week.
Wilson made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,357 from 12,676. The improvement was the result of a 36-14 victory over the Eagles last week.
Conner Sullivan provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Velma-Alma defeated Wilson.
Rodney Hall was the best wideout in the league this week as the Donkeys fell to Rush Springs. Hall racked up 6 receptions for 94 yards. Kamuela Ahuna helped Bray-Doyle's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 15 yards.
Bray-Doyle's Cody Watson and Hall led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Watson has thrown for 519 yards this season, while Hall has 17 catches for 255 yards. The Comets' Sarian Smith leads the league in rushing yards with 432.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Lee Bluejacket's team's Hall goes up against Velma-Alma's Alan Beck.
Next week's game between the Donkeys and Greg Gothard's team will feature a good passing match up as Watson will test his arm against Beck's defensive ability.
An important game coming up in A District 4 this week will be when Empire takes on Healdton. As it stands, the Bulldogs are in first, while the Bulldogs are in fourth.
There should be lots of points scored when Bray-Doyle and the Comets face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Donkeys comes in having scored 86 this season, while Velma-Alma has scored 96. Bray-Doyle scored 6 points last week as it fell to Tim Beard's team.
Ringling led the league in scoring this week after putting up 60 points on Healdton.
