Basketball Game Preview: Philip Barbour Colts vs. Petersburg Vikings

The Philip Barbour Colts will head out on the road to take on the Petersburg Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Philip Barbour has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Petersburg will come in with three straight wins.

Back in December of 2024, Philip Barbour might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Lewis County an easy 69-46 victory.

Despite the defeat, Philip Barbour had strong showings from Izzy Knotts, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 rebounds, and Taitem Jeffries, who posted eight points along with six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Knotts a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Wright, who put up seven points.

Even though they lost, Philip Barbour smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Petersburg humbled Frankfort with a 54-25 victory. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 29 points or more this season.

Petersburg's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Philip Barbour, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Philip Barbour was able to grind out a solid victory over Petersburg in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 75-62. Does Philip Barbour have another victory up their sleeve, or will Petersburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
