Timpview is 0-7 against Wasatch since March of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Thunderbirds will look to defend their home field against the Wasps at 3:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Wednesday, Timpview made easy work of Park City and carried off a 17-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunderbirds.
Lexi Riley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Riley was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Halia Aumua was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Anuhea Lauano was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Timpview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Park City only posted an OBP of .438.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Wasatch ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Springville 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wasps have posted since May 12, 2025.
Sydnee McPhie was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Hill, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Timpview now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Wasatch, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Timpview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .458. However, it's not like Wasatch struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Timpview might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Wasatch in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Thunderbirds have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
