Basketball Recap: Carson Dowis Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Silver Creek

Standley Lake lost to Silver Creek back in December of 2017, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Standley Lake Gators enjoyed a cozy 56-38 win over the Silver Creek Raptors. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.

Standley Lake's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Dowis, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 16 points. The dominant performance gave Dowis a new career-high in points. Asher Serlen was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Standley Lake was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Silver Creek only racked up five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Silver Creek lost, don't look at Blake Gorr. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 15 on his way to 19 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Buckingham, who posted five points.

Standley Lake is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Silver Creek, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Standley Lake will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Northfield at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Northfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
