It was a good run, but the Century Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Urbana by a score of 63-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (58), Century still had to take the loss.
Urbana's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christian Whitehead, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Whitehead continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Mason Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Century's loss dropped their record down to 6-1. As for Urbana, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Century will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Winters Mill at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Winters Mill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Century is ranked 42nd). As for Urbana, they will head out on the road to face off against South Hagerstown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
