Softball Recap: Riverside Has No Trouble Against Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy

Riverside won the last time they faced Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy and things went their way on Wednesday too. Everything went the Riverside Rangers' way against the Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy Warriors as the Riverside Rangers made off with a 16-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kaylee Castro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (two). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. In other batting news, Julie Muniz was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-2. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .727. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Riverside and bumps their season record up to 10-11. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12 runs. As for Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Riverside will head out to challenge Ysleta at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ysleta is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
