Their rough 68-48 loss to the Warriors on Friday might stick with them for a while. Covenant Classical's defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Covenant Classical's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hudson Williams, who threw for 432 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt. Williams is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Blake Schroeder, who picked up 217 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Lucas Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylee Holman, who threw for 427 yards and seven touchdowns. Rylan Goss was another key contributor, picking up 176 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Covenant Classical's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Lucas Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Covenant Classical does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lucas Christian Academy will face off against Abilene Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Abilene Christian is ranked 21st, while Lucas Christian Academy is ranked 35th).
