The Oxford Prep Griffins won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were dealt a 84-47 defeat at the hands of Voyager. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oxford Prep in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost six in a row.
Several Griffins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jamarri Glover, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Glover has scored all season. AleYaun Heggie was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Voyager got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Wilder out in front who scored 15 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Gales, who scored 13 points.
Oxford Prep's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6. As for Voyager, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oxford Prep will take on the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Vance Charter is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Voyager, they will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Roxboro Community is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
