Midway is 0-1 against Caddo since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Midway Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Caddo Bruins at 7:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Midway has struggled recently with 13 losses in a row, while Caddo will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Friday, Midway had to suffer through a rough 56-8 loss at the hands of Webbers Falls. While losing is never fun, Midway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Webbers Falls is ranked 31st).
Midway's loss came about despite a quality game from Tristen Wolfe, who rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Wolfe was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards.
Even if they lost, Midway's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Sam Fowler and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, even though Quinton scored an imposing 32 points two weeks ago, Caddo still came out on top. Caddo blew past Quinton, posting a 82-32 win on the road. The result was nothing new for Caddo, who have now won six matchups by 40 points or more so far this season.
Midway's loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 13-1 Dewar and 5-2 Cave Springs (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.6% over those games). Caddo has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven matches, giving them a 6-1 record.
Midway was taken down by Caddo 50-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Midway avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
