After flying high against Skyview last Thursday, Summit came back down to earth. The Summit Tigers took a 23-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wheat Ridge Farmers. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Farmers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Even though they lost, Summit was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 115.2 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five games they've averaged 207.2.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wheat Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bennett Wilkes, who picked up 167 receiving yards and a touchdown. Wilkes' longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Mccune, who threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes.
Summit has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Wheat Ridge, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
As of now, neither Summit nor Wheat Ridge have any future games scheduled.
