The Clay City Eels lost against the Greencastle Tiger Cubs back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Clay City fell 56-45 to Greencastle. Clay City has struggled against Greencastle recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Defeat or not, Clay City got some senior leadership from Kailyn Kirkling who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and five assists and Lulu Koehler who scored 14 points along with four steals. Koehler continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Abigale Shearer was another key contributor, scoring two points.
Among those leading the charge was Evelyn Briones, who scored 18 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Madi Plew, who scored seven points along with 15 rebounds.
Clay City has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Greencastle, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.
Clay City will head out on the road to face off against Owen Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Owen Valley has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 21. As for Greencastle, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Northview at 6:00 p.m. Northview is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
