The Phoenix Country Day Eagles can now show off 17 landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 61-12 win over Tempe Prep. The victory was nothing new for Phoenix Country Day as they're now sitting on 12 straight.
Phoenix Country Day was led to victory by Madison Gordon and Aila Kaibara. Gordon scored 17 points along with five steals, while Kaibara scored 23 points along with six steals. It was the first time this season that Gordon scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elsa Termansen, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Phoenix Country Day pushed their record up to 20-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Tempe Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
Phoenix Country Day will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Heat at 5:30 p.m. Madison Highland Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 270th, while the Eagles are ranked 18th). As for Tempe Prep, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st. Horizon Honors' defense has only allowed 27.8 points per game this season, so the Knights' offense will have their work cut out for them.
