Fort Lupton hasn't had much luck against Fort Morgan recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bluedevils are taking a road trip to square off against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m.
Fort Lupton came up short against SkyView Academy on Friday, falling 7-1.
Fort Lupton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andres Olivas, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Fort Morgan came out on top against Liberty Common on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Mustangs never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
Cooper Chisum made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Izeiah Ortiz and Jadin Carrera did most of the damage at the plate: Ortiz went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Carrera went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Ortiz has posted since back in March. Frank Urias was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Fort Morgan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Fort Morgan is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Fort Lupton, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
Fort Lupton suffered a grim 31-5 defeat to Fort Morgan in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Bluedevils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
