The Silverdale Academy Seahawks typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Boyd-Buchanan Buccaneers proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 53-47 victory over the Seahawks. This was a revenge game for Boyd-Buchanan, as the team was forced to settle for a 65-64 loss when these two played last Monday.
Several Seahawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kennedy Okpara, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Judah Richardson, who scored 11 points.
Boyd-Buchanan is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Silverdale Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 23-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boyd-Buchanan will face off against McCallie at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McCallie presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Boyd-Buchanan in Tennessee (McCallie is ranked 30th, while Boyd-Buchanan is ranked 104th). As for Silverdale Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge East Hamilton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Hamilton has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 22.
