The Pinecrest Glades Academy Dragons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Colonial Christian with points to spare, taking the game 80-65. The win was nothing new for Pinecrest Glades Academy as they're now sitting on three straight.
Pinecrest Glades Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ronnie Rivero led the charge by scoring 19 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rivero has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keith Hernandez, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Colonial Christian had strong showings from Christian Valino, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds, and Ari Espinosa, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 35.4% of Colonial Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kevin Gomez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Pinecrest Glades Academy pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Colonial Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinecrest Glades Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face BridgePrep Village Green at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. BridgePrep Village Green knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Pinecrest Glades Academy likes a good challenge. Colonial Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cushman at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
