The Elmwood Royals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They took a 45-30 bruising from Carey. While losing is never fun, Elmwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 655th, while Carey is ranked 122nd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carey to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rylee Row, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Reinhart, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Elmwood has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for Carey, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3.
Elmwood will square off against Van Buren at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Carey, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Arcadia at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Carey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday.
