West Valley faced Lathrop in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wolf Pack won by a run and slipped past the Malemutes 1-0. Winning may never get old, but the Wolf Pack sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Not much got past Bryson Roon, who gave up just four hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep Lathrop off the board. Roon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, West Valley's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Eli Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Mason Poulson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
West Valley's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Lathrop, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
