The Coal Ridge Titans will be taking part in a tournament against the Battle Mountain Huskies at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Coal Ridge is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Last Thursday, Coal Ridge beat Grand Junction Central 3-1.
The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 10-25, 25-20, 25-17.
Coal Ridge can attribute much of their success to Chloe Coon, who had 22 digs and three aces.
Coon wasn't the only good servers: Coal Ridge was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Battle Mountain didn't have quite enough to beat Glenwood Springs on Tuesday and fell 3-2. While the Huskies didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Demons 25-21 in the first set.
Battle Mountain took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 15-11.
Battle Mountain's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 15-3. As for Coal Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
