The St. Frances Academy Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 49-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of McDonogh. While losing is never fun, St. Frances Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while McDonogh is ranked fourth).
St. Frances Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Amora Alston, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Alston has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mone't Edwards, who scored 15 points.
St. Frances Academy has fallen quite a ways from their 23-4 record last season and are now at 2-4. As for McDonogh, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
St. Frances Academy is on the road again on Saturday and play against Franklin at 12:00 p.m. on December 16th. McDonogh and Jasper will face off at 12:15 p.m. on December 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
