For the first time this season, Marshfield will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will host the Mazama Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Marshfield has five straight victories, Mazama has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Marshfield didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-7), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took their contest last Friday with ease, bagging a 41-14 win over Junction City. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won three games by 23 points or more so far this season.

09/12/25 vs Baker | 3 |
09/05/25 vs Siuslaw | 2 |
11/01/24 vs North Bend | 2 |
10/04/24 @ Mazama | 2 |
Enoch Niblett had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 250 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes, and also punching in a pair of scores on the ground. Those four passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Jaden Tice was another key player, gaining 134 total yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Marshfield's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. JT Steward refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
Meanwhile, Mazama took a blow against Yreka on Friday, falling 49-14. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Vikings came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 83rd in Oregon, while the Miners are ranked 641st in California).
Marshfield will need to focus on slowing down Brody Mahon, one of several Mazama players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 141 yards.
Mazama's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Marshfield, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Marshfield has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 224.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mazama struggles in that department as they've been averaging 175.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Marshfield came up short against Mazama in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 27-20. Will the Pirates have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
