The Wheeler Mustangs's game on Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 56-49 win over West Texas. That's another feather in the cap for Wheeler, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Levi Ashurst, who scored 18 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The matchup was his 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Adkins, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Wheeler is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for West Texas, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Wheeler will head out on the road to face off against Vega at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Vega will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 821st, while Wheeler is ranked 293rd). West Texas will be home for the holidays to greet Highland Park at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
