Carroll is 9-1 against Fort Wayne Snider since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Chargers will take on the Panthers at 10:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Carroll lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Norwell, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Chargers never let the Knights get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.
The team relied heavily on Braden Christlieb, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Tommy O'Connor also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Carroll was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norwell only posted a batting average of .176.
While Fort Wayne Snider didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers on Thursday as they made off with a 9-3 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Landen Fry made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Brandon Logan was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Another player making a difference was Cam Davis, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Fort Wayne Snider pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Carroll, their record now sits at 9-6.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Carroll hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Fort Wayne Snider struggles in that department as they've averaged .392. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Carroll took their win against Fort Wayne Snider in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
