If the Franklin Sabers were feeling good off their 76-54 takedown of the Racine Case Eagles last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Franklin took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kettle Moraine on Tuesday. Franklin lost against Kettle Moraine in their previous head to head back in March, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 87-59 score last time.
Franklin's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lauren Capstran, who scored 18 points along with 6 rebounds. Capstran scored a full 41.9% of Franklin's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniya Boyland, who scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds.
Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Kettle Moraine, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin will take on Racine Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Racine Park presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Franklin in Wisconsin (Racine Park is ranked 33rd, while Franklin is ranked 146th). As for Kettle Moraine, they will head out on the road to face off against Arrowhead at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Arrowhead's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
