Argenta-Oreana hasn't had much luck against Maroa-Forsyth recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bombers are taking a road trip to challenge the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Argenta-Oreana has six straight victories, Maroa-Forsyth has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Argenta-Oreana got the win against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond by a conclusive 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Bombers, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Elyssa Armstrong spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gracie Manning, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmy Reynolds, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Argenta-Oreana kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Maroa-Forsyth's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-0 to Auburn, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Argenta-Oreana's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Maroa-Forsyth, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
Everything went Argenta-Oreana's way against Maroa-Forsyth in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Argenta-Oreana made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bombers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
