The Southern Nash Firebirds will head out on the road to face off against the J.F. Webb Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Southern Nash focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
Last Friday, Southern Nash was beaten by Roanoke Rapids 61-34.
Despite the loss, Southern Nash had strong showings from Israel Whitaker, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and George Richardson, who scored six points along with six rebounds. Whitaker has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played.
Meanwhile, J.F. Webb came up short against Louisburg on Friday and fell 53-41. J.F. Webb has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Southern Nash's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for J.F. Webb, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Southern Nash was able to grind out a solid victory over J.F. Webb in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, winning 66-58. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was J.F. Webb's Javon Bullock, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for Southern Nash to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
