Baseball Recap: Merritt Island Christian's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Geneva, Merritt Island Christian was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Old Plank Christian Academy Defenders by a score of 7-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Merritt Island Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Bono, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Bono a new career-high. Mason Vanslyke also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Merritt Island Christian picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Old Plank Christian Academy, they moved to 8-11 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Merritt Island Christian will be taking part in a tournament against Oasis Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Old Plank Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Duval Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
