Ferndale hasn't had much luck against St. Bernard recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Crusaders at 2:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Ferndale is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Calistoga with a sharp 28-1 victory on Saturday. The result was nothing new for Ferndale, who have now won five contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Olivia Gossi and Abagail Gossi were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Gossi struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Abagail tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Olivia has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gossi got on base in three of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Abagail went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Tinnley Pidgeon and Madison Gossi did most of the damage at the plate: Pidgeon went 5-for-6 with one home run, eight RBI, and five runs, while Madison went 4-for-5 with one home run, six runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Quinn Stokesberry, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Ferndale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .588. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, St. Bernard's made sure to put some runs up on the board against Maxwell on Friday. The Crusaders were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Panthers. The Crusaders not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8, 2025 (when they won 12-2).
Ferndale's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for St. Bernard's, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ferndale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .409. However, it's not like St. Bernard's struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ferndale got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against St. Bernard's by a conclusive 27-16 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
