There's no place like home for the Lafayette Christian Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Trinity Christian School of Griffin by a score of 76-64 on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Lafayette Christian had a senior duo take command as Bruno Tellez dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds and Joshua Zapata scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Tellez has scored at least 25% of Lafayette Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vakiel Hammett, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Lafayette Christian now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Trinity Christian School of Griffin, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-3.
Lafayette Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Strong Rock Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. As for Trinity Christian School of Griffin, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against CrossPointe Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. CrossPointe Christian Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
