The Orchard Park Quakers are taking a road trip to take on the Lancaster Legends at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Orchard Park's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Lancaster's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Orchard Park gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Clarence by a score of 6-2. The win continues a trend for the Quakers in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won seven in a row.

Reese Politowski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sarah Chojnacki, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Hernandez, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lancaster posted their closest victory since May 14, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Williamsville North 8-6.
Lancaster let Ava Konieczny and Brennah DeWald run wild. Konieczny went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while DeWald got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Isabella Dimino, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Orchard Park's record now sits at 9-1. As for Lancaster, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Orchard Park has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lancaster struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Orchard Park beat Lancaster 7-4 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Quakers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
